Removing And Replacing A Problem Tooth
There are several restorative dental techniques that can spare an ailing tooth. However, if a tooth’s condition is too poor, you may need a tooth extraction. In this process, your dentist will safely remove the tooth from its socket. The general area around the tooth in question can be numbed, to help manage potential discomfort. While the idea of having a tooth removed can be unpleasant, in some cases it is necessary to protect your overall oral health. After an extraction, you and your dentist can discuss replacement options. (more…)
Treatments To Protect Your Teeth From Harm
The more you do to protect your teeth from harm, the easier it will be to keep them in good condition. There are methods available to you to keep your teeth healthy, like brushing and flossing regularly. Other actions can also help. For instance, drinking water instead of soft drinks lowers the amount of sugar you consume, plus water with fluoride can encourage enamel health. That being said, you should not feel like you are solely responsible for keeping your teeth healthy. Your dentist can provide important additional support – especially if there are existing issues that make you vulnerable to dental problems. For instance, if you have a higher risk of developing cavities, your dentist can help keep your teeth safe with dental sealants. You can also be protected against damage that can result from chronic teeth grinding. (more…)

Why A Tooth With A Serious Problem Might Need A Root Canal
If you have noticed that a tooth has become notably sensitive, or is a source of discomfort, you may have a problem that will require a root canal to treat. However, if you are unwilling to have this work done on your tooth, it could have serious consequences for your oral health. If you put off the treatment for too long, your tooth could suffer too much harm to be saved, and will have to be extracted. An advanced cavity can also pass through your tooth root, and do more harm. (more…)
Dealing With Oral Health Issues That Affect How You Sleep
It can be tough sometimes to secure a full night’s rest, but a sufficient amount of sleep is crucial to your general well-being. What you might not realize is that there are some impediments to sleep that your dentist can address. One reason people fail to rest properly is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea robs you of oxygen for frequent periods, and your body must awaken to address this. Many people believe the only way to stop this from happening is with the use of a CPAP machine, but this is not always the case. Your dentist can treat sleep apnea without a CPAP machine – you can have a custom mouth guard made that blocks the closure of your airways while you sleep. If you wake up in pain because of issues with your face, teeth, or jaws, your dentist may be able to provide relief. (more…)
