Oral Health Troubles Can Block You From Cosmetic Dental Work

Are you ready for a more attractive smile? Can you think of something you would hope to change with the help of a cosmetic dental procedure? Before you undergo any cosmetic treatment, your candidacy will need to be checked by your dentist. It is possible that existing oral health troubles must be addressed before moving on to your desired treatment. Restorative dental work takes priority over cosmetic work; in some cases, restoring a tooth could eliminate a physical issue you already planned to target. (more…)

Removing And Replacing A Problem Tooth

There are several restorative dental techniques that can spare an ailing tooth. However, if a tooth’s condition is too poor, you may need a tooth extraction. In this process, your dentist will safely remove the tooth from its socket. The general area around the tooth in question can be numbed, to help manage potential discomfort. While the idea of having a tooth removed can be unpleasant, in some cases it is necessary to protect your overall oral health. After an extraction, you and your dentist can discuss replacement options. (more…)

Treatments To Protect Your Teeth From Harm

The more you do to protect your teeth from harm, the easier it will be to keep them in good condition. There are methods available to you to keep your teeth healthy, like brushing and flossing regularly. Other actions can also help. For instance, drinking water instead of soft drinks lowers the amount of sugar you consume, plus water with fluoride can encourage enamel health. That being said, you should not feel like you are solely responsible for keeping your teeth healthy. Your dentist can provide important additional support – especially if there are existing issues that make you vulnerable to dental problems. For instance, if you have a higher risk of developing cavities, your dentist can help keep your teeth safe with dental sealants. You can also be protected against damage that can result from chronic teeth grinding. (more…)

Proactive Care Through Regular Dental Checkups

Your dentist offers invaluable care when there is a problem with your oral health. Hopefully, you also see them for checkups, even if you have no existing issues. General dental care involves an expert cleaning, as well as a full evaluation that is meant to identify any possible issues. You may be surprised at some of the problems your dentist can assist with. For instance, would you consider a trip to the dentist to address sleep apnea? Not only can your dentist help, they can do so without the use of a CPAP machine. Without regular dental checkups, you can miss important care that helps keep your oral health in its best condition. (more…)

Why A Tooth With A Serious Problem Might Need A Root Canal

If you have noticed that a tooth has become notably sensitive, or is a source of discomfort, you may have a problem that will require a root canal to treat. Your dentist can perform this procedure safely and effectively, and expertly restore your tooth. However, if you are unwilling to have this work done on your tooth, it could have serious consequences for your oral health. If you put off the treatment for too long, your tooth could suffer too much harm to be saved, and will have to be extracted. An advanced cavity can also pass through your tooth root, and do more harm. (more…)

Dealing With Oral Health Issues That Affect How You Sleep

It can be tough sometimes to secure a full night’s rest, but a sufficient amount of sleep is crucial to your general well-being. What you might not realize is that there are some impediments to sleep that your dentist can address. One reason people fail to rest properly is sleep apnea. Sleep apnea robs you of oxygen for frequent periods, and your body must awaken to address this. Many people believe the only way to stop this from happening is with the use of a CPAP machine, but this is not always the case. Your dentist can treat sleep apnea without a CPAP machine – you can have a custom mouth guard made that blocks the closure of your airways while you sleep. If you wake up in pain because of issues with your face, teeth, or jaws, your dentist may be able to provide relief. (more…)

Making Sure Your Smile Looks Good After Cavity Treatment

Restorative work on a cavity is important – without treatment from your dentist, an infection can spread through your tooth root, and that tooth can suffer irreparable harm. That being said, modern dental techniques are sensitive to the desire to maintain an attractive smile. The restorative procedures your dentist can perform rely on materials that can blend effectively with your teeth, so that work done on a cavity will not be detectable. The best way to handle cavities is to avoid letting one develop. Regular checkups with your dentist can help you maintain a cavity-free mouth, and preserve your smile’s good condition. (more…)
