Bruxism And Its Impact On Your Well-Being

Bruxism can cause you to suffer regular pain in your head, neck, and face. It can also damage your teeth. This regular, often unconscious grinding of your teeth can drag down your general well-being, and if left untreated it can cause serious dental problems. Because teeth grinding can be most frequent when you sleep, it can even affect your ability to enjoy a night’s rest. If you are worried that you might be grinding your teeth, you should meet with your dentist to discuss the treatments available to you. (more…)

Choosing Water Over Flavored Drinks Can Benefit Your Teeth

While beverages like soft drinks, coffee, and tea can be fine in moderation, these drinks can have detrimental effects on your teeth. Darker drinks can stain your enamel, and acidic beverages – like sodas – can leave you more vulnerable to cavities. Water can help clear away accumulating bacteria and food debris in your mouth. Drinking more water can also help you produce saliva, which can help keep your mouth clean. By choosing water over flavored beverages, you can reduce the likelihood that you will need treatment for an ailing tooth, and reduce your risk for tooth discoloration. (more…)

Composite Fillings Provide Discreet Cavity Treatment

No one wants a cavity, but composite fillings allow you to receive treatment that is significantly less detectable than treatment with fillings containing metal. Composite fillings are made of a resin material that can bond to your enamel, and is strikingly similar in appearance to a natural tooth. If you are worried that you may have a cavity, you should visit your dentist for diagnosis and treatment as soon as possible. If you leave a cavity untreated, the decay can pass through your enamel, and enter the pulp. If this occurs, a filling may not be sufficient to restore your tooth. (more…)

Trouble Sleeping? It Could Be An Oral Health Issue

It can be hard to pinpoint exactly why your nights are not as restful as they should be. Unless you sleep with a partner, who can report problems like snoring, or the sound of your teeth grinding, you may not know why you struggle to feel rested. Your oral health can be a big factor in how comfortably (or uncomfortably) you sleep at night. Sufferers of bruxism (habitual teeth grinding) can wake up with headaches, or pain in their jaw. People who snore could also suffer from sleep apnea, which causes them to stop breathing periodically, often going without air for more than ten seconds. (more…)

Have Your Dentist Treat A Cavity As Soon As Possible

During a routine checkup, your dentist can detect signs of cavity development before you notice symptoms. When a cavity is caught and treated early, it can be remedied with relative ease. However, if you think you have a problem with a tooth, and postpone talking to your dentist, that cavity can worsen, and treatment can become considerably more involved. It is important to speak to your dentist about potential tooth decay as soon as possible, as delayed treatment can mean losing more of the affected tooth. (more…)

Dental Sealants Offer Extra Security Against Cavities

Dental sealants offer extra cavity protection for your teeth. Typically, people associate sealants as a treatment for children’s teeth, but sealants can offer added security for adults, too. Many adults can suffer from issues that leave them more susceptible to developing cavities, and use sealants to lower their risk. Your dentist can review your oral health, and determine if you would be a prime candidate for dental sealants. Sealants are easy to apply, and can keep plaque and food debris from developing in areas that are harder to keep clean. (more…)
