Supporting A Tooth With A Dental Filling

A dental filling is the most conservative option when it comes to restoring your tooth after a cavity. Not every episode of dental work can end with the placement of a filling – some cavities will not be caught until the dental damage is too severe. In these cases, your dentist has to use a dental crown to provide the necessary protection. That being said, if you seek treatment in time, your dentist can fix your tooth by replacing the material damaged by decay with composite resin, which will bond with your tooth. This will leave you with a restoration that addresses what was lost, while having minimal effect on how you look. (more…)

What To Anticipate From Your New Dental Crown

You may be worried that a dental crown, while necessary to protect your tooth, could be trouble for your smile. How will you look after you receive it? You may also be curious as to how it will fit in – will the presence of this restoration disrupt your normal biting and chewing actions? Will it interfere with how you speak? You should know that several materials can be used to make a dental crown. If you need restorative dental work on a tooth that is in a more visible area, you can receive one made with a more life-like material. In all cases, your dentist will ensure that your crown’s presence allows you to operate like normal, so that you do not feel you have to adjust how you bite and chew food. (more…)

Using Sealants To Increase Your Cavity Defense

Many issues may be contributing to your relative cavity risk. Age can be a factor – if your enamel wears down over time, you can be more vulnerable. Poor diet habits can also contribute to your vulnerability to decay, as can a struggle with dry mouth. If you seem to struggle to avoid cavities, you can talk to your dentist about dental sealants. By applying dental sealants, your dentist can make it harder for bacteria and food debris to accumulate on your enamel, and cause damage that will lead to cavities. (more…)

How Problems Can Hurt Your Experience With Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers can make exciting changes to your smile. You can use this one treatment to cover up many different problems that affect how you look. Dental discoloration, even discoloration standard whitening agents will not correct, can be addressed with the application of veneers. They can also fix the appearance of damaged teeth, or teeth that have developmental flaws. Unfortunately, not everyone will be approved for a set of veneers. There are preexisting factors that may need to be resolved before you can move forward with this cosmetic dental procedure. (more…)

Why You Need To Put A Stop To Regular Teeth Grinding

Grinding your teeth through the night while you sleep can be a recipe for tooth and jaw pain in the morning. If this is a habitual occurrence, you could face the serious risk of major dental damage, and TMD. TMD, meaning temporomandibular joint disorder, is a problem with the joints of your jaw that causes headaches, facial pains, and difficulties with moving your jaw. The condition can have a legitimate impact on your quality of life. If you grind your teeth with enough force, you can potentially crack a tooth, which will make restorative dental care necessary. Is Your Daily Routine Hurting Your Teeth?

Small choices we make throughout the day can have consequences that carry over into problems in the long term. Think about what your teeth typically experience – you may not think much of the effect certain foods or drinks have, and you may disregard the importance of individual brushing or flossing episodes. What you need to realize is that certain items can leave stains that build up slowly, and ignoring your need to clean your teeth can allow plaque to harden, and become resilient. General dental visits matter to your teeth, but you should also be working to sustain a high level of oral care between these appointments. (more…)

The Impact Of A Dental Bonding Treatment On Your Smile

With the right cosmetic dental work, your smile could be drastically improved. A better-looking smile can boost your confidence, which can add real value to your personal and professional life. What you might not know is that there is a way for your dentist to make a real change to your teeth with work that can be completed in as little as a single appointment. A dental bonding treatment uses composite resin to make valuable improvements to problem teeth. You can rely on dental bonding to fix a tooth with a flawed shape. That means restoring the tooth’s appearance after damage, or correcting a congenitally flawed tooth. Dental bonding can be effective for injured teeth, as it can also correct for post-injury discoloration a whitening treatment may not address. (more…)
