Ways To Keep Your Enamel Strong

Teeth do a lot of work for your body, so they need to be able to endure pressure from biting and chewing. The outside of teeth, the enamel, is one of the strongest substances in your body. Enamel needs to be strong to be able to protect teeth without being damaged or worn down through your daily activities. Enamel also needs to stay strong to fend off harmful bacteria and tooth decay. Once enamel is lost to erosion, it cannot be regrown. It can be restored through dentistry to protect the rest of your tooth, but the enamel that was lost cannot return or regenerate. So, how can you keep your enamel strong enough to do its job and fend off bacteria? There are two important ways to do so: eat a healthy amount of key nutrients and keep your smile clean through a good hygiene routine.  (more…)

Addressing Tooth Loss With An Implant

If you have ever lost a tooth as an adult, then you know how transformative it can be for your smile. Not only is the appearance affected (depending on the location of the tooth loss), but the functionality of your bite is affected. In many cases, dental implants can be a way to address tooth loss and the effects it can have on your mouth’s health. An implant can be paired with a lifelike prosthetic to restore both your smile’s appearance and function. How Do I Properly Care For My Dental Bridge?

Caring for most dental restorations is actually quite similar to the way you care for your natural teeth. Proper care for a dental bridge can be quite a simple process because caring for a dental bridge has few changes from your normal routine. Brushing, flossing, and regular visits to the dentist remain important for smiles with restorations as for smiles without them. Regular dental visits may be more important if only to give your dentist a chance to check on the state of your bridge or other restoration along with checking on the rest of your smile. While there are not many differences between caring for a bridge and your normal routine, let’s review what may change.  (more…)
