We have a number of options for providing our Mansfield, TX, residents with a strong and lifelike replacements for missing teeth. From bridges to dentures, we can address minor and advanced tooth loss. However, we also have dental implants, which provide longer-lasting solutions. Let’s talk about planning and placing your new teeth with advanced technology.

The Difference Between Bridges, Dentures, and Dental Implants

A dental bridge is a great choice for replacing between one and three lost teeth in a row, and the prosthetic consists of replacement teeth with crowns attached to each end. The crowns will secure the new teeth. With a partial denture, the new teeth will be held in place with metal clasps that attach to the natural teeth and secure the prosthetic. If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, then we may suggest a full denture, which is held in place with suction or possibly the assistance of a special adhesive.

But what about dental implants? Well, they don’t need crowns, clasps, or suction. Instead, the implant portion is created from biocompatible titanium and is inserted into the jawbone through oral surgery. The implant actually bonds with the bone structure like a tooth root through a process known as osseointegration. This process helps them last much longer than bridges or denture, which typically need replacement every 10 years or so. Instead, this option can last for decades, possibly even a lifetime.

Using Digital Technology

In order to ensure your new tooth remains firmly in place and can withstand and absorb serious bite forces and pressure, we need to choose the optimal placement area. To do this, we use 3D CBCT imaging, which creates a detailed 3D model of your teeth, jawbone, oral structures, and tooth roots. Using this model, we can plan the placement area and angle carefully with accuracy and precision. After initial placement, the area will take three to four months to heal, allowing osseointegration to take place. The next step is adding a custom-made restoration to address the visible portions of your new tooth and to ensure a lifelike appearance.

Minor and Severe Tooth Loss Solutions

In addition to replacing a single missing tooth, we can add several to the jawbone to secure a bridge or a denture! The prosthetic will stay in place much longer than versions fixed with crowns or held in place with clasps or suction. In addition, those with dentures will never need to worry about slippage during meals or speech!
