It may still be super hot in Mansfield, Texas, but a cold front is coming in the form of ice rinks! StarCenter Mansfield’s Grand Opening is on Thursday, August 30th and Friday, August 31st. The two-day event will be a celebration filled with fun, free events to welcome the new location into the community. There will be a ribbon cutting, hockey clinics, figure skating exhibitions, hockey games, and times for the public to ice skate, too! The Grand Opening will feature food trucks and the 7-11 Slurpee truck along with games and prizes. The StarCenter is owned by the city of Mansfield and will be operated by the NHL team, the Dallas Stars. The complex will be the home for the Mansfield Tigers hockey team. The goal of the facility is to create ice sport fans in North Texas with hockey leagues, figure skating, curling, broom ball, and just ice skating. There are about 600 pairs of ice skates to rent to the public for ice skating. The facility will have a state-of-the-art chiller system that will regulate the temperature inside the building. There will also be community rooms available for rent for birthday parties and other gatherings.

Grand Opening Events

  1. The Xtreme Team Grand Opening Skills Clinic is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30th. The clinic is free and one hour long. It is open for players ages 8-14. It will teach the fundamental techniques of hockey with some individual attention for specific skills and needs.
  2. The 15th Annual TX Shoutout will follow the Grand Opening on September 1-3rd.
