August 23, 2015 marks the 125th anniversary of the City of Mansfield’s incorporation. Mansfield 125 has been a year-long community celebration of the milestone, and one of the events this summer is Mansfield’s 125th Birthday Party hosted by the Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center to be held this week August 21 and August 22 at the center. The family-friendly event will highlight Mansfield’s rich history and culture.
History of Mansfield, TX
The City of Mansfield began as an outpost for nomadic Native Americans from a collection of tribes. Anchored by a successful grist mill, the community eventually grew from humble roots into a bustling rural community, though it was still not officially incorporated as a city at the time. 30 years later, Mansfield’s 400 residents voted to officially incorporate as the City of Mansfield.
