There are several ways we can help a patient feel happier about their smile. These include treatments and services such as dental crowns, teeth whitening, and veneers. For patients who are missing a tooth, or several teeth, a dental bridge may be a recommended treatment to help them regain their full smile and oral health. When you are missing a tooth, eating may be more difficult. The missing tooth may also affect how you speak, increase your risk for gum disease, and contribute to other dental health issues.
What are Dental Bridges?
A dental bridge consists of a false tooth, called a pontic, that is connected to teeth on either side of the gap. They come in different types: traditional, cantilever, Maryland, and implant-supported. We can help determine which type you may need depending on where the gap is located and your oral health needs.
What is the Treatment Like?
When we determine that you would benefit from a dental bridge, we’ll take an impression of the area where the bridge will be placed. We’ll also note the exact shade of the adjacent teeth so the pontic will look natural in your smile. The impression will be sent to a dental lab, and they will custom design a bridge to fit seamlessly in your mouth. When the bridge is ready, you’ll visit us again so we can permanently attach the bridge.
